CCDesigns Snowflake Challenge!!!

Well, it snowed overnight a little bit here in Southwestern Ontario and it looks lovely outside. I think it's perfect for New Year's Eve! Just enough to make it look pretty but not enough to make travelling difficult.

Today the DT has posted a challenge over on the ATS Blog. It's a fun one, so I hope you can join in! We were challenged to use snowflakes on our cards but no Christmas paper. Snowflakes? No problem. No Christmas paper....yikes! I had to actually put that stuff away, so that I didn't grab for it by mistake!!

I made a trio of cards using most of the same ingredients. I used the Gingersnap Snowbunnies and the Ski Slope dp by Stampin' Up. I used a couple of different snowflakes on them. The sparkly acrylic ones are by MAMBI and the big white ones are by Imaginisce and I love how you can layer them.

Of course I used my Copic markers and my Nestabilities. And the sentiments are from different CCDesigns stamp sets. I just love the colour combo on these cards.

Well, my sweet little baby girl (who is 16, by the way, 5 foot 6 and not so little anymore) got her G1 yesterday, which means she can start learning how to drive. Yipes! Needless to say, she is over the moon!! Thank goodness my husband is a professional driver and will be the perfect person to teach her the rules of the road....because I'd be a basketcase!!!!

Well, I hope you have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve! Best wishes for a healthy and inky 2009!!!!

Bloomin' Happiness!!

I've got another Tilda card for you today! This dear little soul has been waiting months to get inked up!!! I purchased her from The Town Scrapper as SOON as the order came in!! (I bought another one from the same line but she's still sittin' in her plastic!! *gasp*)

The images in this line are a little larger than usual for some reason. Fine by me! I used a piece of the Be Merry polka dot paper, Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose cardstock. Of course I used my Copic markers to colour her in and added a few highlights with my paintbrush and white acrylic paint. I added a cluster of Prima carnation flowers attached with red brads and added a row of striped green ribbon from May Arts. I added a little silver charm that I got in a package from the dollar store and the sentiment is from CCDesigns.

Well, I'm off to work today....blech. I can't complain really as I've had 6 days off in a ROW!! That never happens. And I only work one day and then have two more off....*giggle*. But still....I'd rather be home stampin'!!! Wouldn't you???

Bertie's Bath!

Happy Monday everyone!! I know some of you are back to work today, sorry about that! I have today off and then I work all day tomorrow. So I'm planning to get some more stampin' done, do some laundry and run Emileigh around town....*giant eye roll*.

I think we may actually see the sun today! It's been rather overcast here since Christmas. Rainy and dreary, really. But it looks like we might get some sunshine, thank goodness.

And this card makes me feel bright and sunshiney too!! For this one I used Bertie's Bath and the Bubbles sentiment, both from High Hopes. I stamped Bertie on SU watercolour paper using Versafine Black Onyx ink. I wanted to use my SU markers on this image, so I had to use the correct ink.

The card base is a Real Red 6x6 square and the dp is Washington Apple by SU. I matted Bertie on Pumpkin Pie and added sparkle to all the bubbles by outlining them with my Sakura Stardust gel pen. I added some red gingham ribbon, pop dotted everything and added a row of buttons at the bottom!

Today, I hope that YOUR day is filled with more bubbles than troubles!!!

Sending My Love Tilda!

Alright, I'm done with Christmas!! Not celebrating, just making the cards! Now it's time to start playing with some new stuff!! Today I'm going to share with you one of several cards I have made for Magnolia, using some of their new Valentine stamps!!

For this one, I wanted to make her a blonde Tilda with a pretty pink and white dress. The card base was sent to me by Magnolia, and I think it's Bazzill cardstock. The dp is from one of the DCWV stacks and is sparkly and shiny IRL. The scalloped ribbon is green velvet and is made by American Crafts....I love it!

I stamped Tilda on Wausau bright white cardstock and coloured her in using my Copic markers.....of course! I drew in a ledge for her to sit on and mounted her on Pixie Pink cardstock. The Prima flowers are attached using Basic Grey brads and the sentiment (which is in a set that has yet to be released from AmyR Designs) was punched out with my oval punch and pop dotted!

So what are you up to today??? I have the day off and I'll be up here in my craft room, rockin' with my Ipod and working on lots of new samples!! I can't wait for you to see what's in store for January!!!

Merry Moosemas!!

Okay, this will be my last Christmas card....I promise. I'm really quite tired of making Christmas cards, but I do want to show them all to you.

This one was made using Santa Riley coming out of a chimney! I picked it up over at The Town Scrapper (who has a big Boxing Day Special going on right now) and the sentiment is from the Things Riley Would Say set.

The card base is Real Red along with Soft Sky and Regal Rose for matting. The dp is Be Merry by My Mind's Eye .... guess I have to put that stuff away until next year now, huh? I used my Nestabilities to cut and emboss Riley and I coloured him in with my Copics. Then I added satin ribbon and some rhinestone snowflakes. I gave this one to my boss at work.

Well yesterday was a wonderful day! We drove down to my parents' house in the morning and arrived about noon. We spent quite a while opening Christmas presents, which is always fun! Then we had a wonderful turkey dinner complete with roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and yummy gravy! Of course there are always delicious desserts for afterwards too! Thanks Mom!! Then we cleared off the table and played HOURS of fun games!! I'm talkin' like, 5 or 6 hours of games! We played Sequence (a great board/card game) and Catch Phrase....the most fun and heart pounding game ever!! Have you ever played it???

Today, I plan to spend most of my time in my craft room, catching up on all my stamping deadlines. There are LOTS of new releases coming up for January, so hold tight to your Christmas money....I'll give you lots of reasons to spend it!!! Heehee!!!

Have a stampin' good Saturday!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!!!

Well, I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday and that Santa was good to you!! He certainly was to me!! I got a fancy schmancy Ipod Touch for Christmas!! We gave Emileigh one too, so we spent the day figuring out how to work these cool gadgets and filling them up with songs and photos and stuff!!!

Today, we are driving an hour and a half to my parents' house and spending the day with them and my brother and his family. There will be lots of packages for the kiddos and a delicious turkey dinner. Hopefully we'll get to play some games after the meal is cleaned up. A fun day, for sure!

Here is another Christmas card, actually it's the one that I sent my brother and his family. I used the Ski Slope papers by SU, Old Olive cardstock for the base and Real Red for matting. I used my curved rectangle Nestabilities to cut Santa Edwin out and coloured him in using my Copic markers....of course! You'll notice his sweater is polka dotted...well, I just used my Copic Blender pen and dotted it all over his sweater after I'd coloured it with the blue and that took away a little bit of the colour in tiny spots. Super easy but makes it look a little different, I think. I also added some snowflake brads and some felt ribbon by SU across the middle. The sentiment is by Papertrey.

Well, I hope you have a great Boxing Day and if you're going shopping.....I hope you get some great deals!!!

Happy Christmas Eve!!

WOW!! I can't believe it's here already!! Does anyone else feel like this month has just flown by?! I hope you are all ready for the holiday hoopla but for those of you who plan to make a trip to the store today....may the force be with you!!! heehee!

We had a super bad winter storm last night and of course my husband had to work in it....he drives double trailers for a trucking company. Yes double trailers, that means 2 twenty-six foot trailers but he is a VERY good driver. I talked to him last night and he said there were trucks in the ditch and cars flipped over on the side of the road all along the highway. It was BAD. And I just talked to him this morning and he is on his way home again. The roads are much better but he said that the police said the 400 series highways had a total of 165 accidents last night. Not good.

Believe it or not, when he gets done work, he's probably going to go shopping. Really. He's one of those crazy people who ENJOYS the 'hustle and bustle' of Christmas Eve shopping. Me, I'd rather stay home in the warm and ......STAMP!!! Well, last night I wrapped presents, so I think I've earned a few hours of stamping time.....okay, I'll do laundry at the same time too. Sheesh. You drive a hard bargain. *giggle*

Today's card is a special one that I made for my parents for Christmas. I talked to Mom yesterday and they just got it in the mail. (Yes, I was a bit late sending them out....so what's your point!?) This was the first time using the Magnolia Skaters stamp, which I just love. I hope they do more images of Tilda and Edwin together. They're so cute. I want to play with them again!!

I used Purely Pomegranate for the square base and the dp is from a retired Simply Scrappin' kit called Happy Me. I love all the colours in it, too bad they are all retired! I love Soft Sky, Purely Pomegranate and Groovy Guava. Good thing I have extra packs of paper. The sentiment is from an AmyR set and is punched out using my oval punch. I used glitter paper for my snowflake punches and I added a button on top of each one. I coloured the main image using my Copic markers, sponged around the edges with Soft Sky ink and pop dotted it!!

What do you do on Christmas Eve?? We usually hang out as a family, wrap each others presents, watch a movie and play some games. It's usually a really laid back day for us, which I thoroughly enjoy. Hope you have a wonderful day, whatever you do!!!

Happy Christmas Eve!!!! (Only one more sleep!!!)

I {heart} Snowmen!

This is going to be a quick post this morning, as I'm on my way to work today. I work all day but then I'm off for SIX whole days!!! I can handle that!!!

Today's card uses the Winter Bear stamp set by CCDesigns, which I LOVE!!! Bear is one of my favourite characters and the snowmen and sentiments are adorable!!! And you can use this set all winter long because it's not just for Christmas!!

It's a very simple layout but it's one of my standbys. I used my Be Merry dp by My Mind's Eye, some buttons and some ribbon. Nothin' fancy, but super cute!!

Hope you have a wonderful day......only two more sleeps!!!! Heeheeeeee!

An Elfy Christmas!

Well, I don't know how many of you are still out there and checking in with me in these few days leading up to Christmas, but if you are, I appreciate it!! We've been busy, busy here at the Reid house.

Saturday, I had to work....booo....but then Sunday I had to day off. Al and I got up early and went out to pick up food and stuff for the week. We also got ingredients to do a little baking....this is big stuff for us! We don't bake, generally speaking.

We started out by making this easy recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake.....could there BE a better dessert...I don't think so!! I girl at work brought in some treats and that was one of them, so I got the recipe and we made it. While that was in the oven we started making Melt-in-your-Mouth Shortbread!! Mmmmm, right? Well, it was going really well until our hundred year old electric mixer died! Ugh! So we had to finish whipping it by hand. I don't think they turned out as light and fluffy as they could have, but they're not bad. Guess I'll have to ask Santa for a new mixer for Christmas.

Then last night we took Emileigh and her boyfriend Brandon to the movies. We saw the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. It was really good! Totally action-packed.....plus it had Craig Daniels....my kinda movie!!

Anyhoo, today's card is one I made for the Magnolia DT and it will be making it's way to Sweden later this week. I used this cute little elf from the Jingle Jangle collection and a bunch of coordinating papers from the Wassail line by Basic Grey. Everything on the card was provided by Magnolia except for the white and red cardstock. I coloured him in using my Copic markers and added some sparkle using my Sakura Stardust gel pen.

I hope you are all enjoying the busy-ness leading up to the holidays. I sure am. I'm working the late shift this afternoon and evening but hopefully I can relax a little this morning. Have a stampin' good day!!!

Fruitcake Winter Wishes!!

Hahahaa! That's quite a title isn't it?? Today's card features Fruitcake papers by Basic Grey, that's why! I also used one of my favourite stamps from Whiff of Joy!!

This is how I had to get around yesterday during the snowstorm....in a sleigh!! Not really, but almost!! I did have to venture out into the storm to go to work and after a nervewracking drive, they closed the library and I had to drive home again!!! Can you believe that?? Oh well, at least I had the night off...and I got to stamp!!! hehe!!

Back to the card....the base is a 6x6 Baja Breeze square and the dp is Fruitcake, as I mentioned. As you can see, this is a rather large stamp, so it has to be on a big card. I coloured them in with my Copics and sponged around the edges of the main image with Baja Breeze ink. I pop dotted them, added a WOJ sentiment, some brads and those lovely, glittery acrylic snowflakes!!

Well, I'm off to work all day today! I hope they've plowed the parking lot by now! Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!!!

It's a Snow Day!!!

My daughter is THRILLED this morning, because we got up (rather I got up and she burrowed further under her covers) and I checked the school board website. There was a big red scrolling info band across the site that said that in anticipation of the today's winter storm, all schools in the area are CLOSED!!! Woohoo!! It was the last day of school before the holidays anyway, but Emileigh was excited to start her winter vacation today!

Now I am waiting by the phone because I'm REALLY hoping that they decide to close the library today. It's not very often that they close the library altogether but we are supposed to get up to 20 cms of snow by tonight. I would hope that the 'powers that be' will look out, no only for the patrons' safety but also the safety of their employees. It could also be that I'd just REALLY love a snow day!! I wanna STAMP!!!

Anyhoooo, today's card features ME, skiing to work later today because I won't be able to drive through the blizzard!! hahahaaa!! Okay, it's not really me, it's SKIIER RILEY!! I got mine at the Town Scrapper....that's where I pick up most of my Rileys!! The card base is Tangerine Tango and I used Close to Cocoa for matting. The designer papers are from Frosty Day by SU (what an appropriate name for today). I used my new Nesties to cut out Riley after I coloured him with my Copic markers. The ribbon is from My Favourite Things and I used some Basic Grey brads up in the corner.

The sketch is a great one and I'll use it again for sure! This was a sketch challenge in the Hanna Stamps Forum a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was perfect for Riley images! Also this wonderful sentiment is from High Hopes!! I use it a lot on winter cards!!

Okay, I'm off to wait for my poor husband to drive home in this insane weather and hope for the phone to ring with my boss telling me not to bother coming in to work!! hahaa!! It may be wishful thinking but it's good to have hope, isn't it?? Have a stampin' good day!!!

Blog Candy Winner!!!!

Oh my!! I can't believe I forgot to post the winner of the Whiff of Joy blog candy!!! I think I'm so full of Christmas Spirit that it just pushed my memory right out my ears!! I'm not kidding!

Anyhoo....the random winner is Tracey from Tray's Spot!!! Just shoot me off a quick email Tracey with your mailing address and I'll pop it in the post right away!!

Snow Bunny Sketch!!

Today Cindy has a wonderful sketch challenge over in the My Favorite Things Forum!! Each week she and Frances post a new and exciting sketch for us to play with and more often than not, I run out of time and don't get a chance to play. But this week I did!! Yay me!

I'm having so much fun playing with Snow Bunny Flopsey! He's just cute whatever he does, but I love him in his mittens and scarf and what could be better than a cup of hot chocolate?? (Actually I'm imagining a cup of coffee with some Bailey's thrown in!! That'll warm you up!)

I used some Bazzill cardstock for the base, some Soft Sky stamped with one of the snowflakes from Baby, It's Cold Outside and the dp is from SEI. I stamped Flopsey on Wausau bright white cardstock and coloured him in using my Copic markers.....of course! The sentiment is punched out and pop dotted and I added some satin ribbon by Club Wedd. The finishing touches are those glittery acrylic snowflakes by MAMBI attached with pink brads!

Such a fun sketch...and I'll use it again for sure!! Go ahead and join the challenge....don't worry if you don't have any MFT stamps, use whatever you've got!

Well, I have the WHOLE day off from work today!! Yeehaw!! I have a bunch of new stamps to trim (and play with)....so I'd better get to work. I think I'll go get my morning fuel....my coffee! See how much I love you.....I post before I even get my cup of coffee!!! I hope you feel special! *giggle*

Santa and Rudolph!

I needed another quick Christmas card so I picked up these two cuties. They were already sitting on my desk since I had stamped them out a few days ago. I always do that, don't you?? I stamp out at least two or three of the same image, so that if I mess one up, I have another one ready to go. As you can imagine, I have a lot of spare images cluttering up my desk! *sigh*

Anyhoo, I just pulled out my Winter Bright Simply Stampin' kit from SU and whipped up this quickie card! I used the images and sentiment from the Sugarplums North Pole set and added a diecut sticker from the scrappin' kit. I pop dotted Santa and Rudolph and finished it off with some Martha Stewart ribbon that I found in the clearance section of Michael's!

Well, I don't have to work until this evening, so I'm hoping to finish addressing my Christmas cards and maybe stamp up a few things too!! Have a great day!!

Magnolia Gift Card Holder!!

I love to give gift cards at Christmas time, so when I saw this cute gift card holder over on Tori's blog, AND that it was part of the challenge on Our Creative Corner....I knew I had to make it!!

I stamped out the Magnolia snowman and coloured him up a bit using the colours from the Frosty Day dp by SU. The card base is Tangerine Tango and I also used Bashful Blue to mat the snowman. I added a little dp inside on the pocket to dress it up. I added a sparkly snowflake punch with a glittery brad and tied it closed with some ribbon that matches Kiwi Kiss.

Now this particular one is going to Emileigh's best friend's mom. I just wanted to say a little thank you to her for giving Emileigh rides home from school on the days that I have to work and can't pick her up. I got her a gift card from Tim Horton's....and if you're Canadian, you'll know what that is!!

Tori has a little tutorial over on her blog and it was super easy to make this adorable gift card holder.
I whipped this one up in no time and I'm sure I will make more!! Thanks Tori!!

Well, I'm off to work all day today. I'd much rather be home stamping, but what are ya gonna do??!! Have a stampin' good day!!

Kim and Tara Challenge......#3!!

Happy Monday morning all!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! I sure did!! Got most of my Christmas shopping finished, spent time with friends and family AND I got to do some stamping!!

Today's card is for my monthly (or whenever we can fit it in) challenge with my pal, Tara from Inking on the Edge!! This month we decided to use one of the newest Magnolia images of Tilda with her Bell!!

On Friday, I got some new stuff from Stampin' Up. It was my last order of the year and I can't believe that I hadn't ordered any of the new designer papers and the new ribbon from the mini catalogue until now!! So I immediately pulled out the Ski Slope papers to play with first!!

I stamped Tilda on Wausau paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in using my Copic markers. Man, I love those markers!! I cut her out and embossed the image using my Nestabilities. The card base is a 6x6 Chocolate Chip square and I sponged the edges of the dp using Chocolate Chip ink. The sentiment is from Papertrey and I added the new felt stitched ribbon across the center. Then I punched some red glittery snowflakes and layered them with Soft Sky smaller snowflakes and added some Old Olive buttons with brown linen thread. The finishing touch was adding some of the new Martha Stewart Mica Glitter that I picked up at Michael's yesterday.

Be sure to stop over at Tara's place to check out her creation which is fabulous!!! We'll do another one some time in January and I've got an extra element that I want to add to the challenge....even Tara doesn't know about this! You'll have to wait and see what it is!! heehee!!

Well, I have the day off from work today and lots of laundry to do. Hopefully I'll get to stamp a little in between loads. Cheerio!!

Happy Winter Sweetpea!!

My Mom and I were yakkin' the other day, as we are known to do, and she said that I hadn't posted this card on my blog yet. Apparently I posted it in my SCS gallery and on the ATS gallery but not here! Silly me!! Well here it is then!

This quick little card was made using a digital download image from All That Scraps called Winter Sweetpea and Tiger. I only used Sweetpea on this card but you do get Tiger the kitty cat with the download. I resized the image and printed it out on my computer using Wausau cardstock. Then I cut it out and embossed it using my new Nesties....love them!

The card base is Real Red and I used Regal Rose for matting the strip of Merry and Bright dp by My Mind's Eye. I coloured in the image using coordinating Copic markers and pop dotted it. Then I used two lengths of satin ribbon and added some glittery snowflake punches. The sentiment is an AmyR stamp and it is on Pink Pirouette and pop dotted. So simple but SO cute, right??

Well, yesterday my honey and I took off and did some Christmas shopping (against my better judgement and because he MADE me)!! The roads were busy, the parking lots were full and the stores were INSANE!! However, I did get to go to one of my favourite stamping stores in London and they are having a storewide 20% off sale, so I picked up a few things. He also took me to Michael's and I got to use my 40% off coupons....yes, coupons because I made him go in too!! hahaha! I think I'm pretty much finished my shopping except for some small stocking type things. How about you? Are you all done??

Then last night we went over to my best friend's house to do Christmas with her kids. Oh I love her kids! We laughed and giggled and had lots of fun. They opened up their presents and Emileigh too. Then they were playing on the Wii (is that how you spell it?) and we had snacks and watched a movie. A perfect holiday get together.

Now I've got to get busy! I have lots of stampin' work to do and it's a good thing I have today and tomorrow off! Hope you are having a great weekend.....and don't forget to enter my Whiff of Joy Blog Candy!!! You have until tonight to enter!!!
