Challenge 84 - Sunny Makes a Splash!!

*SIGH* Oh how I love Saturdays!!! Not only because it's the weekend, but also because it's challenge day at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!!! Gotta say, I love to have an excuse to colour up any of the new KKStamps!! And this week, we're makin' a splash!!

Our wonderful hostess this week is the loverly Michele and she wants us to create anything with a water theme....so beachy, mermaids, poolside, rain....anything wet or watery!

Sooooooo.....I was thrilled to be able to ink up one of my new stamps from our newest artist, Emilie Goulet! This is Sunny the Turtle and isn't he just a pip?? Just love that cheesy grin and I can almost see him wiggling his eyebrows at me!!

I stamped him on Neenah cardstock with Memento ink and used my Copic markers to colour him up. I'm quite happy with how it turned out but I'm not sure you can see all the dotting I did on him to accentuate the shading. It took a long time but I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I'm not so thrilled with the water....I'm not too skilled at creating water with markers just yet....practice, practice I guess.

I cut the main image out and embossed it using one of my newer Nesties and then I sponged in the clouds with a hand cut cloud template that I made. I think they look pretty cool.

So that was the hard part of the card made......and then I decided to challenge myself a little more! I mean, why not?! Well, my poor sewing machine hasn't been used in......at least a year, so I dusted her off and after a couple of practice runs and adjustments........I sewed on both layers......and IT DIDN'T EAT MY CARD!!!! Will wonders never cease?? I couldn't believe it! I'm not the best seamstress to say the very least, and usually I'm cursing at the darn thing but this time...no problemo!!!

I added some ribbon, a turtle charm, some glittery candy dots in the corner and then stamped one of the many perfect sentiments from our Beachy Sentiments set!! Voila!!

Now I really hope you can join us for this week's challenge.....and if you use one of your own Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, you could win the beautiful stamp featured on Michele's gorgeous card! Now hop on over to the KKStamps Challenge Blog and check out what the rest of the Krafty Girls have to show ya!!

Happy kraftin'!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and Cute Card Thursday!

We are thrilled once again to be sponsoring this week's Cute Card Thursday sketch challenge! It's another fun sketch to play with that fits our images perfectly!!

For my card, I used the lovely new Butterflies Flutter By from one of our newest artists, Cheryl Alger. This little cutie was so fun to colour! And I sponged around the main image with brown ink to distress it a little bit.

The card base is a 6x6 in chocolate brown and I used red and a pale green for matting. The pretty patterned papers are from one of my new Lime Twists pads by MME. I found a cute polka dotted one that I used to paper piece her shirt!

I added some of my new ruffled ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique and a trio of Prima roses. Lastly I stamped the sentiment that comes with the image and cut it out with my scalloped oval punch.

Now be sure to join us for this fun sketch challenge and hop over to the CCT Challenge blog to check out some lovely inspiration! If you play along, you could win some new Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps of your choice!!

Happy kraftin'!

CPS 223 - Dance in the Rain!

This week Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is sponsoring the Card Positioning Systems sketch challenge again! We'd love for you to join us, as you could win your choice of three KKStamps!!

I used one of our new Cheryl Alger stamps....this one is Dance in the Rain! I just love the joyful look on her face!

I made a 5.5 inch square card base using Kraft cardstock and the papers I used are from one of my (many) My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pads. Love the colours in these ones! I stamped the image on Neenah cardstock using Memento ink and coloured her up with my Copic markers.

I admit the layout of the sketch had me stumped at first but once I turned it on it's side, it was perfect for one of our images! I decided to distress the edges of most of the layers with my distressing tool....love that look and I don't do it nearly enough. I added a trio of Prima flowers at the top and a whole bunch of pearls! Lastly I added the sentiment that comes with the stamp, Dance in the Rain!

Hop on over to the CPS blog and check out what all the other designers have done with the sketch! We'd love to see what you create with the sketch and you could win some new stamps!! Come on back tomorrow for this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge for more chances to win!!

Happy kraftin'!

Mojo Monday - Oceans of Love!!

First of all, a very Happy Father's Day to my Daddy-o who is the best father and grandfather two lucky girls could ever ask for! And also to my hunny, who is the best husband and father the same two lucky girls could ever ask for! We love you!

I'm pretty stinkin' excited today because I have a card that I created for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge! This is rather a momentous occasion for me because....well, I haven't done a card for anything but Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenges or KKS sponsored challenges since.....well, I really can't tell you when! It feels pretty cool to do a card just for fun and I gotta say, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Don't you love that feeling!? I used to play with the Mojo Monday sketch a lot, but since I started my own business....not so much. :(

The sketch is a good one...perfect for lots of KKS images, so I decided to play with one of our mermaids, Marina! I also cracked open my Happy Go Lucky Lime Twist paper pad for the very first time and played with the gorgeous colours in there! LOVE the colour combos in this pad!

I stamped Marina on Neenah with Memento ink of course and coloured her up with my Copic markers. I thought she would look pretty funky with fuchsia hair and I spent some extra time dotting the shaded parts of her lovely tail.

Now I don't usually cut the mermaids out because the images are so intricate but I decided that I wanted to try with this one.....guess I was feeling adventurous!! Note to self: next time I want to cut an image out, don't use the super thick Neenah cardstock! My hand was so sore and cramped afterwards, not to mention I was all sweaty, stressing about accidentally lopping her head off or slipping on the narrow part of her fin! And that little fish with all his fins? Aagh! But it all worked out and she's still in one piece!

I used my Nesties to cut out and emboss the circle and scalloped circle layers, then added some narrow grosgrain ribbon across the middle. I had some fun glittery dots to add the trio in the top corner and then I used the Oceans of Love sentiment from our Mermaid Sentiments set. Lastly I just added a bit of sparkle to the fishy and to Marina's tall with my clear Spica pen!!

Whew!! So the card is done AND it's posted in time for the Mojo Monday deadline!! Double cool! Hopefully I can try it again next week! Fingers crossed!

Happy kraftin'!

Challenge #83 - Cards for Little Peeps!

This week's Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge is brought to you by.......Stampin' Nana Diana.....otherwise know as....me Ma!! Haha! She'd like us to make card for the little people in our lives!!! It can be any theme you like.....birthday, congratulations, thinking of you.....anything! Just make it for a little peep that you know!

The prize this week is a SWEET one! Not only will you get the Dancing Dylan stamp as featured on Diana's card....but the winner will also receive FOUR MORE Steven Leary stamps of their choice!!! Cool, right?!

For my card I used the wonderful Curtis!! Not only is this stamp one of my favourite stamps...it was designed and named after my nephew.....Curtis! He loves to fish! Hehe! So I plan on giving this card to him this weekend when I see him! He doesn't know yet.....shhhhh!

The papers that I chose are from one of my (many) My Mind's Eye 6x6 pads. Lots of boyish colours in these papers...and I coloured Curtis up with my Copic markers, using my Stardust gel pens to add some little dots of sparkle to the fishie! Then I cut him out and embossed him with my square Nesties. And while the image was still in the die, I sponged around the edges.

I added some yummy brown giant rick rack, a button and some linen thread. Lastly I stamped up the great sentiment that comes with Curtis!

Hope you can join us for this week's challenge! Happy kraftin' with your Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

This is one of the great June stamps from the Beach Fun Collection by our newest artist, Emilie Goulet! Isn't she fantastic??

Secondly, I have this simple card featuring Takara! Her name means Treasure in Japanese and I just love this image. The dragon was fun to colour up and I added some glitter to his scales with my Spica pens! I made the card fairly simple as I really wanted the focus to be on the image. 24 Krafty Karats ..... and Annie's NEW STAMPS!!!

My goodness this day seems like such a long time in coming! It's only been about 3 months since Annie and I decided on an Asian Inspired theme for June but it feels like SO much longer!! I'm SUPER excited to share these elegant, gorgeous girls with you!! And we're combining them with this week's Krafty Challenge!!

Our hostess this week is ANGIE!! The challenge is called 24 Krafty Karats and we need you to use gold in some form on your creations! I don't have a whole lot of gold in my stash, but that's why it's called a challenge, right?? I was lucky to find some gorgeous designer paper with gold in it, but you can also use gold twine, gold paper, gold brads, gold embellishments or even just some gold glitter!!!

The image I used is the stunning new SAKURA! Her name means Cherry Blossom. Doesn't she look so sweet and demure, but also like she might have a little secret?? I went with the colour combination of red, gold and black and coloured her up with my Copic markers. The designer papers are by DCWV and I think they look perfect with Sakura!

I coloured her up and then used one of my new Nesties to cut her out and emboss her. While she was still in the frame, I sponged around the edges with some black distress ink and then I added some gold sparkle to her bow, hairpins, comb and fan using my gold Spica pen. The sentiment that I used at the bottom comes with Sakura!

Lastly the charm that I used at the side is an antique gold coin of sorts that I found in my stash of goodies. Not sure where I got it or when I thought I would ever use it, but see how it came in handy?? I think it really makes the card!

So join us for this week's challenge and you could win one of the stamps that Angie used this week. AND if you leave comments today on each of the Krafty Girls' posts, you could be one of TWO lucky winners who will each receive THREE of these lovely new Asian Inspired stamps!!!

Be sure to come back for tomorrow's Krafty HOP and ALL these amazing new stamps will be available in the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Shop!!!

Friends are For Hugging!!

Welcome to Day TWO of our June Krafty Peeks at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Today we are sharing the *new* images from our lovely artist, Cheryl Alger!!!

There are FOUR new sweetie pie girls this month and they are SO much fun to colour!! I chose to play with this adorable girl and her furry friend! It's called Friends are for Hugging!

I pulled out one of my (many) My Mind's Eye 6x6 pads and chose these particular patterns because I just love the rich, deep blue, red and yellow combination. I coloured up the image with my Copic markers and cut her out and embossed her with my oval Nesties. I added some delicious wrinkled ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique Etsy shop....love this stuff....and added some clusters of flowers. Lastly I stamped the sentiment that comes with her, Friends are for Hugging! and pop dotted everything. So fun!

And because I'm in a giving mood again today, make sure to leave comments on all the Krafty Girls' blogs today for a chance to win.....the ENTIRE Cheryl release!!! Yup!! So hop on over to the KKStamps blog and see who has stuff to share with ya!!!

Be sure to come back tomorrow when we'll have a new Challenge for you....not to mention......the NEW ANNIE STAMPS!!!! Eeeeeek!!

We've got a NEW Artist!!!

Happy Thursday, stampers!!! Guess what today is?? It's Day One of our June Krafty Peeks at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!! AND we are super thrilled to introduce you to the newest addition to our artistic crew..........EMILIE!!!

You can learn more about Emilie over on the KKStamps blog! Just WAIT til you see the images she has drawn for her very first release!! The Krafty Girls and I have been having a blast playing with these BEACHY themed stamps!! We've got some really awesome characters for you to see!!

My card features the footloose and fancy free......DOLLY the Dolphin!! Heehee! Just looking at her makes me want to smile! I knew immediately which new papers I wanted to use with her.....these are from the 6x6 pad of Beach Babe by Fancy Pants. So fun!

Right off the bat, I knew that I didn't want Dolly to be coloured like a normal dolphin....in grey. So the first time I coloured her, I made her green. Didn't look so hot. One of the other Krafty Girls suggested that Dolly's momma had an affair with a frog. Hmph. How rude. So this time I coloured her PINK!! And I think she looks awesome!! I sponged in some waves with blue ink and matted her on a green scalloped circle.

Then I made a circle card using my CM cutting system from Kraft cardstock. I added some blue ribbon and a tiny bow and then a flourish of rhinestones. Lastly I used one of the awesome sentiments from the Mermaid Sentiments set on pink cardstock and cut it out using one of my new ribbon banner Nesties. You will find that both the Mermaid and Beach sentiments set are PERFECT for Emilie's new summer stamps!!

Don't you love Dolly?? I think she makes fun summer cards, invitations and can't you just picture her on a summer, poolside scrapbook page??? Love her! And I can't wait to colour her up in other colours......like purple!!! Dolly will be available, along with all our June stamps on Sunday, June 12th at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Shop!!

Now hop on over to the KKStamps blog to check out who else has a summery creation to share! **And be sure to leave comments at each stop because one random commenter will WIN the ENTIRE release of Emilie's new stamps!!!! Woohooooooo! Then come on back tomorrow for some more peeks!!

Happy kraftin'!

Time to Relax!!

Good Tuesday morning, friends! How are you all doing today?? It's a rather dreary morning here in Ontario after a lovely thunderstorm last night. Worst night sleep ever. Our Jack Rusell Terrier, Daisy is afraid of thunder so she jumped up on our bed, wiggled down between us in the covers and shook for most of the early morning hours. *sigh* I think this afternoon will be calling for a nap, methinks.

I thought I'd share a card with you that I made featuring one of the awesome Sporty Girls from our May release. This is Mandy! Doesn't she look so relaxed and serene....not to mention, flexible!?! I used some papers from a new My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad and I love the colours!

The card base is a 6x6 in black cardstock with dark blue and warm yellow for matting. I added some seam binding ribbon and flowers from Stampin' Up. I also added one of the two perfect sentiments to go with her. I sometimes have to remind myself to relax....how about you??

Right now I'm finding it hard to relax because the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps June release is this weekend!! Which means we start posting previews on Thursday!!! I've even started posting teaser snippets on our Facebook fan page!! Have you seen them?? So exciting! Did I mention we've got a fabulous new artist?? heehee!

Happy kraftin'!

Challenge #81 - Cut it Ouuuuuuuuuuuuut!!

Everytime I hear this phrase, 'Cut It Ouuuuuuuuuuuuut'....I am reminded of the show Full House with the Olsen twins. Well, Uncle Joey used to say it all the time.....and yes, I used to watch Full House. Don't judge me. Hehe.

Anyway, this week that is the name of our challenge!!! Our wonderful hostess Donna wants us to use paper piecing on our creations!!! Honestly this is one of my favourite techniques yet somehow I always forget to use it! What a great (not to mention easy) way to add interest to your images by giving them some patterned clothing! It's almost like playing with paper dolls....yes I used to do that too! What? Didn't you?? I bet you did!!

I used the lovely Caroline on my card and the papers are from the Stella Rose Hazel line by My Mind's Eye! They have nice little patterns in those 6x6 pads and small patterns are usually best for paper piecing outfits, I've found.

I coloured up Caroline using my Copic markers then stamped her again on the patterned paper. I cut out her dress and attached it over top of the original one. I used my Nesties to cut her out and emboss the frame. The card base is a coral Bazzill Bling cardstock in 6x6 finished size and I used Kraft paper for matting and accents.

The sweet wrinkled ribbon is from a wonderful little Etsy shop called Prairie Bird Boutique!! She has all sorts of gorgeous colours and I have to admit that once I got my first order, I turned around and ordered more! SO yummy! I also added a pink through the ribbon's bow at the side and the sentiment on a scalloped oval punch. Lastly I added a sweet little flower in her hair with a white brad.

Now hop on over to the Krafty Girl Challenge Blog and check out the other samples from the Krafty Girls! Then be sure to join us this week for the challenge and if you link it up to that post and use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp, you could be our random winner of some new rubber!!

Oh and by the way......you might start seeing some Krafty Peeks later this week on the blog! Or you might see some even earlier over at our Facebook fan page!! So keep yer eyes peeled!!

Now go on.....CUT IT OUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!

OH How I Love Reading!!

Good Wednesday morning, friends!! Looks like it's going to be another steamin' hot day in Southwestern Ontario! Yeehaw! I'm so ready for summer...how about you?? Can't wait to sit out on my deck under the patio umbrella and READ!!

I'm very excited because I bought a Kobo ereader a few weeks back and I've been thoroughly enjoying it! To be honest, I haven't been reading much lately at all, because I just haven't had the time.....and this is tragic because most of you know how much I LOVE to read! But now that I have this new ereader, it's really made me take some time out to do something I love. (Actually, it's just making me stay up an hour or two later at night! Heehee!)

Anyway, about a year ago, a friend of mine who reads the same kind of things I do, recommended a trilogy to me and said that I would really like it. So when I got my Kobo, the first book I bought was The Hunger Games. Well, let's just say that I only started reading it about a week and a half ago and now I am halfway book number 3! Seriously. Such good books!

So in honour of my return to reading, I'm going to share this card with you featuring the lovely LUCY! She's from the Everyday Girls release of Moonlight Whispers stamp from a couple of months back....and she's probably my favourite from that release! Doesn't she look like she's in her own little world?!

I used some papers form the Tickled Pink pad by My Mind's Eye.....love their stuff! I coloured Lucy up using my Copic markers in coordinating colours, cut her out with one of my Nesties and sponged around the frame while she was still in the die. I added some fun green crocheted lace trim and the sentiment is one of two that come with Lucy. Lastly I made up a little punch/button/twine embellishment layer a la Joanne Basile, one of my fave stampers and a sweet person. Love how she adds these cute little features to her cards!

Anyway, I'm busy packing up the new June stamps! Eeeee! We'll be starting Krafty Peeks next week, so stay tuned! OH! And did I mention.....Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps will be introducing another new artist?? Shhhhh! Keep it under your hats! haha!

Have a wonderful day and happy kraftin'!!
